Our Story

From our humble beginnings at the Franklin Farmer's Market on Sundays grilling gyros, The Tulip and the Rose opened its doors on July 5, 2014 offering a menu of omelettes, pancakes, burgers, and our famous gyros. Since that day until now we strive to bring exciting and innovative cuisine to the Catskills.

Every Tuesday since November 3, 2015 we have featured a brand new menu with various regional specialities including: Mediterranean, Malay, Indian, French, Thai, Persian, Russian, Vietnamese, and many more. Over time, we have expanded to a constantly changing tapas schedule featuring a new dinner menu every Tuesday and Thursday, and every Friday and Saturday. Check out our tapas calendar for to see what regions we will be highlighting every week.

Named one of the “Best Places to Eat in the Catskills,” we continue to bring delicious food and an atmosphere of sharing and enjoying to our home in Franklin.

  • At this restaurant, there is genius in the kitchen. An amazing array of dishes from around the globe, lovingly plated and sourced from the finest, freshest ingredients. I cannot say enough that it is worth a detour to have dinner at this fine Catskill spot. Catering and parties can also be booked for this pretty restaurant. The staff is eager to please and amazingly friendly. Indian, Malaysian, Asian, American dishes are all executed exquisitely at this gem of a spot. Don't miss it!

  • I first met these guys selling tasty gyros at the Franklin Farmers' market. After a few years, they bought a former restaurant in Franklin and slowly started expanding the menu. They still gyros for lunch but they now have baba ganoush, hummus plates, burgers and fries and a few ethnic treats. But the dinners are out of this world. A mix of Turkish, Vietnamese, Indian, and American -- all of them perfect. Malaysian chicken, curried duck, pho soup, just amazing. And most of the entrees are $12 to $15. It's a great deal. Oneonta and Cooperstown have nothing like this. Go now before it's too crowded to get into.

  • This is the most amazing restaurant I've ever been to. The people are super friendly. It's a hidden gem. The food is amazing. We were a party of 3. We ordered 2 appetizers and 3 lentil soups. I had the duck stew which appeared to be braised and was super tender over rice. It was amazing. The other 2 people in my party ordered the sea bass and a seafood curry bowl which tasted amazing. Just a warning. If you go once, you will be hooked and will always want to go back.
